Your Commute to the Mats
CLOSE ENOUGH TO MAKE IT A HABIT
Downtown Tulsa is one of Oklahoma's most exciting urban cores — the BOK Center filling on fight nights, Guthrie Green hosting concerts and food trucks, the Blue Dome Arts District humming with activity, and the Tulsa Arts District drawing creatives from across the region. It is a great place to work. But after a long day inside the Inner Dispersal Loop, you need a way to reset.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is that reset. And Method Jiu-Jitsu is 15 minutes from your desk.
The most straightforward route requires zero highway. Head south on S. Sheridan Road from downtown and stay on it. The road runs directly from the Pearl District all the way south past 51st Street — our gym sits at 5101 S. Sheridan, on the west side of the road. You will pass through Midtown, through the neighborhoods around Cherry Street, and land right at our door. The drive is well-lit, rarely congested in the evening direction, and becomes second nature after your first few classes.
Prefer to take the highway? Get on I-44 east from downtown and exit at Sheridan. Turn south and you will reach us in under a mile. Either way, you are looking at about 15 minutes from the core of downtown on a normal weekday evening.
That timing is perfect for our weeknight schedule. Our 5:30 PM Fundamentals class is built for adults who are new to BJJ or still building their foundation — no experience required, no partner needed. The 6:30 PM Advanced class follows for those who are further along. On Tuesday and Thursday we run a 6:00 PM NoGi class that moves at a different pace and is an excellent complement to the Gi program. If you want to train before the city wakes up, our 6:00 AM classes on Tuesday and Thursday are popular with downtown professionals who prefer to have their workout done before their first meeting.
The culture at Method is not intimidating. Downtown Tulsa attracts driven people — lawyers, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, engineers — and those are exactly the kinds of people who train here. Analytical minds tend to love BJJ because it rewards problem-solving. Every roll is a live puzzle. Ego gets checked quickly because the mats are the great equalizer, and that tends to attract exactly the kind of community you want to be around.
Your first class is completely free. No commitment, no gear required. Just show up, let us know you are new, and we will take it from there.
